Record Year for Orders to Local Industry

ICN's activities have resulted in more than $206 million in orders to local industry in the 2008 - 2009 financial year. Many of these are orders that may otherwise have been placed offshore.

With a range of programs underway targeting opportunities for local industry in metropolitan and regional Victoria, as well as international markets, ICN anticipates another strong year with many more successes for local industry.

ICN recommends that firms with unique or leading edge equipment register as an Enterprise Connect �Technology Partner� to receive up to $5,000.

Technology Partners are companies with unique or leading edge equipment that are willing to make it available for use by other companies when it�s available.

Changes to the Victorian Industry Participation Policy (VIPP) from 1 July 2009

Recently announced changes to the VIPP effective from 1 July 2009 will strengthen the policy and increase its effectiveness at encouraging purchasers to buy locally - boosting employment and supporting the growth and diversification of local industry.

Building the Education Revolution (BER) Program

The Building the Education Revolution (BER) program begins this year and will provide schools with new facilities and refurbishments to meet the needs of 21st century learning. In addition to this, it will create numerous jobs within local communities.

ICN Victoria is working with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) and respective project managers to identify capabilities and capacities of Victorian businesses capable of supplying products and services to the program.
