AIR WARFARE DESTROYERS (AWD) ALLIANCE’S NEW SUPPLIERS PORTAL TO BENEFIT AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND SUPPLIERS

The AWD Program will provide vast opportunities for Australian and NZ industry with significant work for sub-contractors throughout the country, while helping to ensure the sustainability of the Australian shipbuilding and repair sector.

The ships will require the assembly of approximate 500,000 components and about 1,500 suppliers will be required to complete the shipbuilding task.

The AWD Alliance is delighted to announce the Program's engagement with Industry Capability Network (ICN) and the launch of the new AWD Alliance Suppliers Portal.

The AWD Alliance has been working with ICN to improve the process for suppliers registering their interest with the Program.  It was identified that suppliers wanted flexibility to promote their services, control over their information and the knowledge that AWD Alliance personnel had a portal that allowed for efficient collection and retrieval of data on the thousands of companies that wish to register their interest in the AWD Program.

To this end, AWD will replace its current system of registration with the brand new portal, commencing Friday 16/2/07.

The new portal provides:

  • Suppliers with the capability to control their own information, including updating their records. This means AWD will always have access to the most up-to-date information.
  • Suppliers with a greater range of information on their organisations’ capabilities making it easier for AWD to determine who can best meet its needs.
  • AWD personnel have access to a greater range of industry information and better mechanisms with which to search the data.
  • All suppliers in the market ‘a fair playing field’ when competing for work with the AWD Program.

This sophisticated supplier registration portal will be hosted by ICN on behalf of the AWD Alliance.

To log your details on the new supplier portal and continue your interest in of one of the most significant shipbuilding projects ever undertaken in Australia, visit www.ausawd.com and click on Supplier Registration. For further enquires please email ausawd@ausawd.com

BUY LOCAL CAMPAIGN

ICN is spearheading a “Buy Local” campaign to increase private sector use of Australian made goods. ICN’s Louis Ziras is leading the campaign.  He has a sales and marketing background across a range of industries.

Specifically targeting the private manufacturing sector throughout Victoria, the campaign aims to help industry source competitive local products and services.  Mr Ziras visits hundreds of manufacturers across Victoria, introducing them to ICN and encouraging them to buy goods and services from local suppliers.

Mr Ziras points out that “While industry often wants to buy locally, it is often unaware of what is available in its own back yard and looks overseas.  There's a tremendous capability that currently exists in Australia."

For more information, please contact Louis Ziras on (03) 9864 6725, Mobile 0411 496 077 or Email lziras@icn.org.au
